Questions
Read MoreWhat’s your photographic style? I prefer a photojournalistic style of photography. Photojournalism focuses on capturing the spontaneous rather than the posed shots. A goal of this style of photography is to visually tell the story of your event without taking up your and your guests' time to pose for portrait-style photographs. Even though I prefer photojournalism, as opposed to traditional photography, I really want some nice groups shots of the family. Can you accommodate this? Yes. Although I primarily approach an event from a photojournalistic style, I work for you. I will be happy to take any particular shots you may have in mind. Will you be the actual photographer at our wedding? Do you double book? I will always be the primary photographer for your event. I don’t double book. You are my only priority during the time in which you have hired me.
My aunt/uncle/brother/friend is kind of a photo buff and we're sure he/she will have a camera. Is this okay? I ask that guests refrain from taking pictures (especially with a flash) during a ceremony or any formal shots. This serves to preserve the dignity of your ceremony and will allow me to perform my job in the most efficient manner possible. Having said that, everyone should feel free to photograph other parts of your event. Is the work I am seeing on your website all yours and only yours or is it a compilation of work from more than one photographer? The work is all mine. How many photographs will you take at my event? I will take an unlimited number of photographs of your event. I concentrate on completely documenting your event without limiting myself to a certain number of pictures.
Will you be there all day? Can we have photos of us getting ready? I will be there during the times we agree upon, including rehearsals, receptions, etc. You can always add on more time if necessary. Do you use digital or film cameras? I use digital. It is not inherently better quality than film, but rather allows for more latitude in how your final print looks to you. A digital picture can be converted to black and white, touched up to remove a distracting background, and manipulated in many ways to modify how it looks. Do you shoot black and white or color most of the time? Is there an extra fee for black and white? One of the nice aspects of shooting digital is that I can take all the photos in color and convert some to black and white after the fact. I usually convert about 10-20% of the pictures, but can adjust this according to your preference. I have to charge a processing fee for a large number of black and white conversions due to the labor involved in this process.
Do you have a backup camera? I always bring a backup camera in the event of a malfunction. How do you dress for an event? I dress to blend in with the average guest at your event. This will vary, of course, with the type of event you are hosting. Will my photos be available to view and order online? You will be able to view your photos on this website as soon as they are completed. I will then meet with you to facilitate the ordering of your prints. After you have ordered your prints, family and friends will be able to view and purchase additional prints directly from this website. How long will it be before we can see our photos? It depends of the size of the event and my general workload, but most events will be finished in about two to three weeks. Certain items, like the coffee table books, can take significantly longer due to the time required to create the custom layouts and the process necessary to print a book.
What's the process for making our album? Do we get to pick the photos? I will have you pick out a certain number of pictures for the book. If I need 30 pictures for the book I would have you select more photos than I would need (about 45-50). This will allow you to have most your favorite photographs in the book, while allowing me enough options to create well-designed pages. I’ll show you the final layout for the album before it is printed. I want to make sure everything is correct and you’re happy with the final product before it’s printed. I can’t make changes to the album after it has been sent to the printer. What is your cancellation policy? Your package fee is paid in two installments. One half is due at the time you sign a contract, with the balance due no later then 14 days prior to your event. You will lose any fees already paid at the time of cancellation.
